Currently, #LoRa technology is widely used in the European region, but not in all regions, with South America in last place. According to information provided by the TTN Mapper application , there are no active registered #Gateways in Bolivia.
In this sense, the objective of the project is to develop an #IoT LoRaWAN system capable of capturing information through sensors at the End Point , transmitting said information through Gateways that have a LoRaWAN stack and thus establishing a permanent connection with a network server, visualizing the information on an application server and also the development of a local database that allows storing a history of information and generating graphs of the behavior of the parameters to be measured.
The main parameters that determine the quality of drinking water are: pH level, electrical conductivity, temperature, color, and turbidity. The measurement of these parameters and others is carried out in specialized laboratories that have the equipment to carry out this work. However, having information on some parameters in real time through some sensors can help obtain very useful values for timely decision-making.
Communication between the sensor and the microcontroller is done via a wired connection. This connection between components and the LoRa radio equipment is called the End Point. Two types of Gateways will be used: one based on a Raspberry Pi 3 with a LoRa SX1276 module, and the other purchased from a manufacturer.
The connection between the End Point and the Gateways is done via LoRa wireless communication. An internet connection was used to connect the Gateway to the network server; Wi-Fi communication will be used. Finally, a webhook developed by The Things Network and myDevices Cayenne will be used to communicate between the #network server and the #application server. The application server, developed by myDevices Cayenne, provides a dashboard where information can be displayed through numerical values and widgets.
